Within these totals, one Fitter post and one Fireman post are reserved for ex-servicemen, while one Machinist post is reserved for PwBD (orthopaedic) candidates. These are not additional vacancies. Candidates with benchmark disabilities must also check the functional requirements listed for each post in the notice.
Educational qualifications and experience
Technical Assistant: A first-class diploma in the prescribed discipline is required. Automobile Engineering applicants need the corresponding Automobile Engineering diploma. Mechanical applicants may hold a diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering. For Electronics and Communication, the accepted diploma disciplines are Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.
Technician-B: Applicants need a Class 10/SSLC/SSC/Matriculation pass and the specified trade qualification: ITI in the relevant trade with an NTC from NCVT, or an NAC from NCVT as stated in the notice. Check the exact Turner, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, or Electrician requirement for the chosen post.
Cook-A: A Class 10 pass and five years of experience as a cook in a well-established hotel or canteen are required. The experience certificate must come from the hotel or canteen and be produced during the skill test. Certificates issued by individuals are not accepted.
Fireman-A: Applicants need a Class 10 pass, must meet the prescribed physical-fitness standards, and must upload the Preliminary Medical Examination certificate in Annexure A with their application. This is not an opening for every Class 10 applicant irrespective of medical or physical eligibility.
Only Indian nationals may apply. Qualifications must be obtained from a recognised state board or university, and the advertisement requires the exact specified qualification rather than an assumed equivalent course. Required qualifications and experience must be held by 5 October 2026; rounding off marks is not permitted.
Age limits and relaxations
For post codes 60–68 and 70, the basic age range is 18–35 years as on 5 October 2026. For Fireman-A, post code 71, it is 18–25 years on the same date. The notice allows five years of relaxation for SC/ST applicants and three years for OBC applicants where vacancies are reserved for the respective category.
Other eligible groups, including serving government employees, ex-servicemen, persons with benchmark disabilities and specified categories of women, may receive relaxation according to the applicable Government of India orders. Do not assume that every relaxation applies to every post or category; check the reservation entry and supporting-document requirements.
Pay scales and employment conditions
- Technical Assistant: Pay Level 7, ₹44,900–₹1,42,400.
- Technician-B: Pay Level 3, ₹21,700–₹69,100.
- Cook-A and Fireman-A: Pay Level 2, ₹19,900–₹63,200.
These are advertised pay-matrix ranges, not guaranteed monthly take-home figures. Applicable allowances and deductions affect actual salary. The notice refers to dearness allowance, housing and transport provisions, medical facilities and other benefits under the relevant rules; departmental housing or transport affects the corresponding allowance entitlement. Selected Fireman-A candidates must stay in IPRC Essential Staff Quarters.
IPRC works on propulsion systems, engine and stage testing, integration, spacecraft thrusters and propellant-related support for India’s space programme. That institutional work provides context, but the advertisement does not promise the same day-to-day assignment to every post. The selected role and discipline determine the relevant work.
Written examination and skill-test process
The written examination is planned in offline OMR mode in Tirunelveli and Chennai. Candidates choose their city while applying, and the choice cannot subsequently be changed by the applicant. IPRC reserves the right to reallocate centres for administrative reasons. An examination date is not specified in this notice.
For Technical Assistant and Technician-B, the written paper is based on the prescribed qualification’s curriculum: 80 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, with one mark per correct answer and a 0.33-mark deduction for an incorrect answer. The stated written qualifying marks are 32/80 for UR and 24/80 for applicable reserved-category vacancies. Their skill test is qualifying, with the corresponding thresholds of 50/100 and 40/100. The technical-post shortlist normally uses a 1:5 ratio, with at least ten candidates for a post.
Cook-A and Fireman-A have 100-question, 120-minute written papers with a 0.25-mark penalty per wrong answer. Cooking knowledge, kitchen equipment and school-level general subjects feature in the Cook syllabus. Fireman topics include basic science relevant to fire safety, arithmetic, English and general knowledge. Cook applicants need at least 60/100 in the qualifying skill test. EWS candidates follow the unreserved selection standards.
Final selection is based on written-test scores among candidates who clear the required subsequent stages. Skill-test marks are not added as a separate merit component. Where written scores tie, the academic scores of the notified qualification are used as the tie-breaker.
Additional Fireman-A requirements
The prescribed medical certificate must be issued by a government medical officer in Allopathy, not below Assistant Civil Surgeon rank, employed in government health services. It is valid for six months. Applicants must upload the scanned certificate and produce it at the skill-test stage.
Fireman selection includes a two-stage Physical Efficiency Test followed by a detailed medical examination. Events include running, rope climbing, carrying a weighted dummy and long jump. Every required event must be qualified. The notification and Annexure A contain category-specific fitness measurements, age/sex-specific event standards and medical disqualifications; applicants should have the authorised medical officer assess these rather than rely on a short article to determine fitness.
Application fees and conditional refunds
The upfront fee is ₹750 per application for Technical Assistant posts and ₹500 for Technician-B, Cook-A and Fireman-A posts. Payment is online through the linked SBI payment gateway. Candidates applying for multiple posts need separate applications and separate fees.
Refunds require attendance in the written examination. Female, SC, ST, ex-servicemen and PwBD applicants are eligible for the stated full-fee refund subject to that condition. For other applicants who attend, the refund is ₹500 from the Technical Assistant fee, or ₹400 from the other posts’ fee, with applicable bank-charge deductions. Transaction/user charges remain the candidate’s responsibility. This should not be advertised as a fee-free application.
Enter bank details carefully and upload the requested bank-passbook front page. Retain the payment receipt and verify that the payment status is successful; a pending or failed payment is not confirmation that the application fee has been received.
Documents and submission checks
Prepare the relevant school certificates, diploma or ITI records, identity proof and applicable reservation, disability or ex-serviceman documents. Cook applicants need experience evidence; Fireman applicants need Annexure A. Follow the post-specific document checklist in the notification.
The notice specifies JPEG photographs and signatures with a maximum size of 1 MB each. The signature should be in blue ink on white paper with a 7:2 aspect ratio. Certificates may be PDF/JPEG up to 1 MB. Follow the filename restrictions: no blank spaces, special characters or numbers. Uploaded content must be clear and readable.
