Young Professionals – 11 Contract Engagements

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has invited applications for 11 Young Professional engagements at its Central Marketing Organisation and Environment Management Division. Advertisement No. CMO/YP/2026-01, dated 30 September 2026, covers marketing, business development, information technology, finance, statutory compliance and environment-management work. All the listed engagements are in Kolkata.

Applications close on 15 October 2026. These are experienced-professional opportunities, not student internships or a general fresher recruitment drive. Depending on the engagement, the minimum required post-qualification experience is three, six or ten years.

Understand the contract before applying

SAIL is a Government of India Enterprise, but this notice is specifically for a temporary contract for service. The advertisement states that the engagement does not create an employer-employee relationship or a right to regular appointment. A candidate should not interpret the government-company name, or the phrase Young Professional, as a promise of permanent employment.

The initial tenure is up to three years from joining. It may be extended for up to two additional years, one year at a time, subject to the stated eligibility conditions, satisfactory performance and the company's discretion. The maximum engagement is five years; an extension is not automatic.

Which roles are available?

Engagement Posts Grade Minimum experience
Marketing: Market Analyst 1 YP-3 10 years
Marketing: Business Development, three product areas 3 YP-1 3 years each
SAP Functional Consultant 1 YP-2 6 years
Full Stack Developer 1 YP-2 6 years
SAP Technical Consultant 1 YP-1 3 years
GST and Tax Planning 1 YP-2 6 years
Receivables and Working Capital Management 1 YP-1 3 years
Labour Compliance, Strategy and Workforce Analytics 1 YP-1 3 years
Environment Management 1 YP-1 3 years

The three separate business-development engagements concern structural hollow sections, coated steel products and fabricated steel structures. Applicants must match the experience described for the particular product area, rather than treating the three posts as interchangeable marketing vacancies.

Qualification and experience requirements

The technical engagements require the specified BE/BTech in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline or field. The SAP Functional Consultant position requires relevant experience including at least two SAP SD implementation projects, with at least one implementation in the SAP India version. The SAP Technical Consultant requires at least one SAP implementation project. The Full Stack Developer position requires six years of post-qualification full-stack application-development experience across front-end and back-end technologies.

The finance engagements require CA or CMA, with the stated GST/tax or receivables/working-capital experience. The labour-compliance engagement requires graduation with an MBA in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, together with the prescribed experience. The Environment Management engagement requires BE/BTech and relevant experience in areas such as decarbonisation, climate change, sustainability, emissions accounting and greenhouse-gas assessment.

Marketing qualifications and experience differ by engagement, and several additional qualifications are desirable rather than essential. Essential qualifications must be regular/full-time in the relevant stream from institutions recognised by the stated UGC, AICTE, ICAI or ICMAI authorities. Experience must come from one of the employer types specified in the notice, including a private firm with a valid CIN where applicable. Read the detailed row for your engagement code before claiming eligibility.

Age limits and eligibility date

Indian nationals who have completed 23 years of age and meet the required qualifications and experience can apply. The upper ages are 35 years for YP-1, 38 for YP-2 and 42 for YP-3. Upper age, essential qualifications and post-qualification experience are assessed as on the application closing date, 15 October 2026. Candidates who will acquire the required qualification or experience only later should not assume that they qualify now.

Monthly retainership, working hours and benefits

  • YP-1: Rs. 70,000 monthly consolidated retainership.
  • YP-2: Rs. 1,00,000 monthly consolidated retainership.
  • YP-3: Rs. 1,40,000 monthly consolidated retainership.

The advertised amounts are grade-wise retainership fees, not an internship stipend or a common salary for every role. The standard engagement is eight and a half hours per working day, six days per week, with additional work possible under the stated terms. Selected professionals must be present at the designated workplace regularly; this is not advertised as a remote engagement.

No HRA is payable. Company accommodation for outstation professionals is subject to availability and charges. The notice separately specifies permitted reimbursements and excludes benefits that are not expressly provided, including regular-service benefits. Read those terms alongside the headline retainership before deciding whether the contract suits you.

Fee, selection and application steps

The registration and processing fee is Rs. 500. Fees once paid are non-refundable, and applicable additional payment charges are borne by the applicant. Applications are accepted online only. Depending on application volume, shortlisting may involve a prescribed test before personal interaction or interview; the advertisement does not provide a confirmed test date.

  1. Open the official SAIL Young Professionals application page and read the advertisement and instructions.
  2. Choose the correct engagement code, register or sign in, and enter your qualification and relevant experience accurately.
  3. Upload the prescribed photograph, signature, date-of-birth, qualification, experience, identity and address documents. Government, PSU or autonomous-body employees should check the NOC requirement.
  4. Review the form before confirmation, complete payment and retain the registration slip with your Application ID.

Submit by 15 October 2026. Eligibility remains subject to document verification; an application or payment does not guarantee selection. Follow the official portal and registered email/mobile communications for subsequent instructions.
