SAIL Bhilai Apprenticeship 2026-27: 710 Trade, Diploma and Graduate Seats

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bhilai Steel Plant, has invited eligible Indian citizens to apply for apprenticeship training for 2026-27. The notice lists 710 seats across Trade (ITI), Technician (Diploma) and Graduate Apprentice categories. This is a paid training opportunity at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh, rather than recruitment to a guaranteed permanent job.

The programme is not limited to engineering graduates. Alongside technical disciplines, the vacancy table includes BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA and BBA seats. Applicants must match their completed qualification to a notified discipline and apply on the appropriate apprenticeship portal by 20 October 2026.

Vacancies and qualification routes

The Trade Apprentice category has 516 seats for candidates with ITI in the relevant trade from a government-recognised institute. Examples include Electrician (95), Fitter (80), Instrument Mechanic (35), Machinist (25), and Manufacturing Process Control & Automation (25). Other notified trades include mechatronics, electronics, welding, refrigeration, stenography and information technology. Check the complete table before choosing a trade.

The notice also lists 124 Diploma and 70 Graduate Apprentice seats. Graduate/Diploma qualifications must be from a government-recognised institute or university. Technical branches include civil, chemical, computer science, electrical, mechanical/mechatronics, metallurgy and other specified disciplines. Non-engineering graduate seats include BA: 5, B.Sc: 3, B.Com: 5, BCA: 5 and BBA: 5. The remaining categories include the other qualifications shown in the official table; these five degrees do not account for all 70 graduate seats.

Seats are indicative and may change during selection. A qualification appearing in the notice does not mean an applicant can choose any listed discipline: the relevant qualification and portal vacancy must match.

Who can apply?

  • Eligible Indian citizens who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates.
  • Candidates who passed the relevant qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026.
  • Candidates whose qualifying result is declared and available by the application deadline.
  • Candidates within the stated age limit, subject to applicable relaxation.

The notice excludes candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training, are currently undergoing apprenticeship training, or have job experience for a period of one year. Applicants should check this exclusion carefully rather than treating the programme as open to all experienced candidates.

Reservation follows Government of Chhattisgarh guidelines, with applicable age relaxation. The notice invites eligible Indian citizens and does not state a Chhattisgarh-only domicile restriction. Selection and training are nevertheless based at Bhilai, so applicants need to plan for attendance there.

Stipend and training conditions

The stated monthly stipend is ₹9,600 for Trade Apprentices, ₹10,900 for Diploma Apprentices and ₹12,300 for Graduate Apprentices, or the prescribed MSDE rates. For Diploma and Graduate Apprentices, the notice specifies 50% payment by BSP and 50% from BOPT through DBT. These figures are apprenticeship stipends, not permanent-job salaries.

BSP will not provide accommodation or travel allowance. Apprentices must make their own accommodation arrangements. The notice does not disclose a training duration or an application fee, so neither a fixed duration nor a fee-free claim should be assumed. BSP has no obligation to offer regular employment during or after the training.

How to apply online

  1. ITI candidates: register on the NAPS apprenticeship portal. Log in, open Apprenticeship Opportunity, search for SAIL BHILAI STEEL PLANT and apply for the relevant notified trade.
  2. Degree/Diploma candidates: register as a student on NATS. Log in, go to Establishments Requests and Find Establishments, then select Steel Authority of India Limited, Bhilai Steel Plant and the appropriate notified discipline.
  3. Complete the relevant portal application by 20 October 2026. Registration alone is not enough: the notice requires applying to the establishment's opportunity.
  4. Keep a printout of the submitted application and attend the walk-in on the date assigned to your trade or branch in the notice.

Use an active email address and mobile number valid for at least the next year. The bank account must be DBT-enabled with verified KYC. Enter marks as percentages; where results use CGPA, apply the board or university's conversion rules. Incomplete or erroneous applications can be rejected.

Walk-in, documents and selection

The trade-wise walk-in schedule runs from 27 October to 21 November 2026; candidates must follow their assigned group, including excluded dates. BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA and BBA are in the 17-21 November group. Reporting time is 9:30-10:30 AM at Room No. 123, HRDC, Bhilai Steel Plant, Chhattisgarh 490001.

Bring the self-attested documents listed in the notice: matriculation certificate for date of birth, provisional pass certificate, applicable category certificate, Aadhaar card/passbook with mandatory e-KYC validation, government-hospital medical fitness certificate, and NAPS/NATS apprentice registration copy.

Selection is based on academic merit through the walk-in process, using 30% weightage for Class X marks and 70% for the qualifying ITI, Diploma or Degree marks. Engagement is subject to medical fitness. Joining date and venue will be communicated by email.
