Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR): Young Professional-I (Basic Sciences) and Young Professional-II (Information Technology)

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited applications for two Young Professional positions at its headquarters in New Delhi. Advertisement No. CD/TBaccelerator/Admin, dated 28 September 2026, covers one Young Professional-I in Basic Sciences and one Young Professional-II in Information Technology. Both engagements support the ICMR TB Research Accelerator under the Division of Communicable Diseases.

These are temporary contractual jobs, not internships or permanent government appointments. Monthly consolidated remuneration is ₹35,000 for YP-I and ₹42,000 for YP-II, without House Rent Allowance. Eligible candidates must submit the prescribed application by email to icmr.trac@gmail.com by 21 October 2026. The notice does not specify a closing hour.

  • Extensions: Conditional annual extensions, with a maximum total of three years

The notice does not advertise a work-from-home arrangement. Applicants should plan around the New Delhi posting and seek clarification if necessary. The one-year engagement may be extended only according to organisational requirements and satisfactory performance; a three-year term is not guaranteed.

YP-I Basic Sciences: Essential Eligibility

YP-I requires a graduate degree in Life Sciences or an allied basic-science discipline relevant to biomedical research from a recognised university or institution. The maximum age is 30 years as on the last date for receipt of applications. Age relaxation is governed by applicable rules.

The notice gives examples including Biology, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Toxicology, Virology, Nutrition and Entomology. Another relevant life-science discipline may also qualify under the wording of the notice; this should not be rewritten as eligibility for graduates from every discipline.

A relevant postgraduate qualification and at least one year of relevant biomedical, laboratory, public-health, clinical or health-research experience are desirable, rather than essential conditions for this position. Other desirable areas include literature review, evidence synthesis, data extraction, scientific documentation, reports, presentations, office software, scientific databases and reference-management tools. Experience with tuberculosis or related research and project coordination is advantageous.

YP-I Responsibilities

The scientific role supports research proposals and projects across appraisal, implementation, monitoring and documentation. It includes reviewing tuberculosis-related literature, preparing summaries and scientific notes, maintaining project trackers, and checking information on milestones, timelines, deliverables and budgets.

Additional duties cover meeting records, expert-committee documents, correspondence and coordination with investigators, institutions and ICMR teams. The professional may help clean data, prepare descriptive summaries, perform quality checks and maintain research records securely. Other scientific or programme-related duties may be assigned by the competent authority.

YP-II Information Technology: Essential Eligibility

YP-II requires a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks in Computer Applications, Information Technology, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Operating Systems, Software Engineering or Computer Graphics from a recognised institution. Applicants must also have at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience. The maximum age is 35 years on the application closing date, with relaxation according to rules.

The relevant experience must include practical development, deployment, administration and maintenance of interactive dashboards or management information systems. Candidates must be able to handle structured research data and use statistical software or programming tools for data cleaning, analysis, visualisation and reproducible reporting. This experience requirement makes YP-II unsuitable to describe as a fresher job.

Desirable expertise includes dashboard platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, Apache Superset or Qlik; SQL and relational databases; R or Python with statistical packages; data integration, ETL, APIs, reporting automation and Git. Data-capture or health-information tools such as REDCap and ODK, access controls, audit trails, security, backup and deployment experience are also useful. Relevant research-data experience is an advantage. These desirable tools should not obscure the essential degree, marks and experience requirements.

YP-II Responsibilities

The IT professional will develop and manage dashboards used to monitor proposals, projects, milestones, budgets and programme outcomes. The work includes indicators, data models, visualisations, scheduled reporting and secure pipelines connecting approved data sources.

The notice also covers workspace administration, user permissions, versioning, performance, audit logs, backups and maintenance. Duties include supporting approved statistical software, preparing reproducible analytical outputs, troubleshooting data and application issues, and producing dictionaries, procedures, guides and training materials. Confidentiality, data integrity and secure access are explicit parts of the role.

The notice lists the same email and telephone number 011-26588296 for clarification. Selection and Important Conditions

Applications will be screened against eligibility. A written test, skill test or assignment may be used where necessary; none is guaranteed for every applicant. Shortlisted candidates will receive interview and document-verification information by email. Meeting essential criteria alone does not guarantee shortlisting or selection.

Age, qualifications and experience are assessed as on the closing date, and qualifying experience is counted after completion of the minimum essential qualification. Consolidated remuneration is subject to applicable tax deductions, and no HRA is payable. No travelling or daily allowance is provided for selection activities or verification.

Incomplete, unsigned, late, unsupported or incorrectly submitted applications may be rejected. False information and canvassing can lead to disqualification. The temporary engagement creates no entitlement to permanent appointment or absorption. Selected candidates must follow ICMR’s conduct, confidentiality, information-security and related rules. ICMR may amend or withdraw the recruitment; check its website for official updates and corrigenda.
