Post-wise qualifications

Post 820 — Welding, one vacancy: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy, Manufacturing or Material Science, together with M.E./M.Tech in Welding Technology, Mechanical Welding and Sheet Metal Engineering, or Manufacturing, Metallurgy or Production with welding as one of the subjects.

Post 821 — Turbo Machinery, one vacancy: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Aerospace, together with M.E./M.Tech in Turbo Machinery, Thermal and Fluids Engineering with Turbo Machinery as a subject, or Aerospace Propulsion with Turbo Machinery as a subject.

Post 822 — Power Electronics, one vacancy: B.E./B.Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Instrumentation, Applied Electronics, Electrical and Electronics, Electrical, Avionics or Power Engineering. The required postgraduate options are Power Electronics; Power Electronics and Control; Power Control and Drives; Advanced Electrical Power System; Electrical and Electronics (Power Systems); High Voltage and Power Systems Engineering; or Industrial Power Control and Drives.

Check your exact degree and subject combination against the official table. A generally related engineering degree is not automatically equivalent to a listed combination. The undergraduate and postgraduate requirements are cumulative, not alternatives.

Marks, age and educational conditions

The undergraduate threshold is an aggregate minimum of 65% across semesters or CGPA 6.84 on a ten-point scale. The postgraduate threshold is at least 60% or CGPA/CPI 6.5 on a ten-point scale. Qualifications must have been obtained by 13 October and completed within the stipulated course duration. The notice contains a separate Section B rule for AMIE/Grade IETE candidates.

Rounding marks is not allowed. Where only CGPA is printed, it must itself meet the eligibility standard; converting it into percentage is not permitted for eligibility, even if an institution provides a formula. Separate rules apply to integrated or dual degrees. Professional courses pursued through open and distance learning are excluded. Foreign-degree holders must produce an AIU equivalency certificate at interview.

The age ceiling is 30 on 13 October. Ex-servicemen, persons with benchmark disabilities and departmental candidates may claim applicable Government of India relaxations. Applicants should read the notified physical requirements and their own eligibility conditions rather than assume that an unreserved vacancy has every category-specific concession.

Work described in the notice

Welding involves research and development concerning aerospace materials, including high-nickel high-strength alloys, stainless steels and non-ferrous materials. Turbo Machinery covers design, CFD studies, testing and performance analysis of launch-vehicle turbo machines. Power Electronics includes converter design, analysis and realisation, nano-satellite power systems and drive electronics for high-power BLDC motors.

Written test and interview

The selection process consists of a written test and personal interview. Part A is discipline-specific: 60 multiple-choice questions, 60 marks and 75 minutes, with +1 and minus one-third marking. Part B is an aptitude/ability test of up to 15 questions for 20 marks in 30 minutes, without negative marking. Part C contains discipline-related descriptive questions for 20 marks in 30 minutes.

The notice requires 50% in each written section, 50/100 in interview and 60% aggregate minimum under its qualifying table. Interview shortlisting is in a 1:5 ratio with a minimum of ten candidates. The final panel assigns 50% weight to the written test and 50% to interview. There is no travel allowance for the written test; interview rail-fare reimbursement is subject to the notice's conditions.

Fees and application steps

All applicants initially pay Rs 750. Fee-exempt categories—female, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates—receive a full refund only if they attend the written test. Other attending candidates receive Rs 500 back, retaining Rs 250 as the application fee. Accurate bank details and applicable supporting certificates are necessary for the refund.

  1. Open the official ISRO notice linked below and read the complete bilingual advertisement.
  2. Use LPSC's official online recruitment portal for the correct post number.
  3. Upload the specified photograph and qualification certificates/mark sheets.
  4. Submit by 13 October at 2 p.m. and complete fee payment by 14 October at 2 p.m.
  5. Keep the registration number, application and payment record. No printed documents need to be sent after successful registration.

Existing government, PSU or autonomous-body employees must follow the employer-intimation and original NOC conditions. Original documents are required at interview. Apply separately for multiple posts, bearing in mind that tests may be conducted simultaneously.
