Vacancy and qualification alternatives
TA-106 is one Unreserved vacancy filled by direct recruitment. Its upper age limit is 27 years. Eligibility in every respect is determined on the online closing date. The post is not the separate Technical Assistant (Library) vacancy, which has its own SC–PwBD conditions. Applicants should select the Electronics code and not transfer restrictions or qualifications from another row.
- BE or BTech in Electronics from a recognised university or institution; OR
- A bachelor’s degree in Electronics from a recognised university with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade; OR
- A three-year Electronics diploma after passing Class 12, approved by AICTE or a recognised university/institute, with at least 60% marks.
Experience maintaining Electronics laboratories is desirable. The verified Electronics entry does not prescribe a separate minimum number of experience years. Applicants must satisfy one of the qualification alternatives; a general computer or unrelated engineering qualification should not be presented as automatically equivalent.
Pay, posting and service conditions
The advertised scale is 7th CPC Pay Level 5, with the printed pay range ₹29,200–92,300. This is a pay-scale range, not a guaranteed starting take-home salary or an internship stipend. Pay, allowances, leave, gratuity, NPS and LTC follow the institute’s applicable service rules. The notice does not specify a fixed appointment tenure for this direct-recruitment post.
Selected candidates can be posted at IIG observatories, headquarters, regional laboratories or facilities anywhere in India. The institute’s recruitment address is in New Panvel, Navi Mumbai. A remote or WFH arrangement is not advertised. Applicants should consider the possible posting locations rather than assume the headquarters address is the only place of work.
Two submission deadlines
Online application: 10 November 2026 at 5:00 p.m. IST. Hard copy: it must reach IIG by 16 November 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Completing only the online form is insufficient. The notice says postal delay after the receipt deadline is not acceptable.
Fees and reservation caveat
For Technical Assistant posts, the non-refundable online application fee is ₹900 for Unreserved, OBC, EWS and other applicants, and ₹700 for female, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen applicants. Applicable service charges are borne by the applicant. The fee table for Assistant Professors is different and should not be used for TA-106.
The general notice provides relaxations under Government of India norms where applicable, but expressly says SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD applicants choosing Unreserved vacancies are not eligible for the category relaxations otherwise allowed. TA-106 is Unreserved. Do not assume a reserved-post age relaxation applies to this vacancy. Use the complete original conditions for your category.
