Why this internship matters

LRDE develops the radar systems that power India’s defence services. As an intern, you won’t be fetching coffee — you’ll work alongside DRDO scientists on live R&D projects in cutting-edge fields. The internship period counts as part of your degree course, and you walk away with a DRDO completion certificate, a strong resume line, and real exposure to defence technology.

  • Duration: 6 months (1 August 2026 to 31 January 2027)
  • Stipend: ₹5,000 per month (fixed) — total ₹30,000, paid directly to your bank account
  • Location: LRDE, CV Raman Nagar, Bengaluru – 560093
  • Mentorship: Project work guided directly by DRDO scientists

The stipend is paid in two installments: ₹15,000 after completing 3 months and ₹15,000 after completing 6 months, based on technical evaluation.

How to apply (read this carefully)

The #1 mistake: applying directly. LRDE will not accept applications sent directly by a student. Your application must go through your college using the prescribed form, with a request letter from your college.

1

Fill out the application form (Annexure I in the official advertisement).

2

Get a referral / request letter from your Principal, HOD, or Internship Coordinator on college letterhead (Annexure II). This is mandatory.

3

Gather your documents (see checklist below).

4

Send everything by Speed Post to the address below.

5

On the envelope, clearly write “Application for Paid Internship” and mention your Branch Code.

Electronics & Radar Development Establishment (LRDE),
Defence R&D Organisation, CV Raman Nagar,
Bengaluru – 560093

Documents to enclose

  • Filled application form + request letter from college
  • Copies of marksheets for all semesters / years (provisional copy is fine if originals aren’t issued)
  • A brief write-up on why you want to intern at LRDE and your field of interest
  • Copy of your College ID Card
  • A government photo ID (Aadhaar Card preferred)

Important dates

Event Date
Last date to receive applications 1 July 2026
Intimation to selected students 15 July 2026
Internship start date 1 August 2026
Since applications go through your college and travel by Speed Post, start the process now — don’t wait until the last week of June.

What selected students submit at joining

  • All original previous-semester / year marksheets (BE/B.Tech/M.Sc)
  • Original college reference / request letter
  • Original Aadhaar Card and College ID Card
  • Two passport-size and two stamp-size photographs
  • Police Verification Certificate from your District Authority
  • Copy of your Aadhaar-seeded bank account passbook
  • Signed undertaking for the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923
  • Signed undertaking to follow IT Rules & Regulations of the Ministry of Defence

Original documents are returned right after verification.

A few things to keep in mind

  • LRDE can increase, decrease, or cancel seats at any time, and meeting the minimum eligibility does not guarantee selection — they shortlist using their own criteria.
  • No accommodation, transport, or transport allowance is provided. Plan your stay in Bengaluru accordingly.
  • Candidates who aren’t selected won’t receive any correspondence.
