Project and work requirements
The official PDF describes project GAP-427 as recovery of Nb2O5 from tin ore or slag through a fluoride-free process. The live post-detail page describes recovery of Nb2O5 and Ta2O5. Both identify the same post code and project. Applicants should read the full official notice and current post page together. The requested knowledge covers hydrometallurgical unit operations, electrochemical leaching, precipitation, roasting and calcination.
Essential eligibility
Applicants need a PhD in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science and five years of relevant post-qualification research and development experience in industrial or academic institutions or S&T organisations and scientific activities and services. The maximum age is 40 years on 20 November 2026, subject to the specified relaxations. Indian citizenship is required. Result-awaited candidates are ineligible, and equivalent or higher degrees do not replace the essential qualification unless the notice explicitly permits it.
The age relaxation is five years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates and three years for OBC candidates, or as prescribed by Government instructions. Age, qualifications and experience are determined on the application closing date. Employed applicants need the required NOC when applying and/or at interview. PhD students may apply only when their research domain aligns with the project and with the required prior permission/NOC. Meeting the minimum eligibility does not guarantee an interview; applications will be screened. No separate interview call letter is issued, so follow official website updates. No TA/DA is paid for attending, and selected applicants must join immediately on receiving an offer.
Pay and appointment terms
The monthly emoluments are INR 67,000 per month + HRA at 20%. The source identifies these as monthly amounts and lists the HRA percentage separately; no take-home salary or additional undisclosed benefit has been assumed. The project is currently shown as running up to 30 June 2027.
This is a temporary appointment at CSIR–IMMT, Bhubaneswar. Project staff may need to travel and stay elsewhere as the work requires. The initial engagement is one year or the remaining project duration, whichever is shorter, with extension or curtailment subject to project duration and satisfactory performance. A project’s end date is not a guaranteed employment term. The appointment does not create a right to permanent absorption or regularisation. The general cumulative project-engagement limits in the notice also apply.
The notice provides leave under the applicable CSIR rules, including its stated maternity/paternity and regular leave conditions. Read those conditions in the full advertisement before accepting. Either side may terminate engagement on one month’s notice or the specified emoluments in lieu. The institute may change the number or duration of engagements or cancel recruitment.

Preparing your application
Present your PhD and subsequent experience as a dated chronology so the five-year post-qualification requirement can be checked. Select relevant examples of hydrometallurgy, leaching or materials processing, and explain the methods and results accurately. Do not assume that all experience before the qualifying degree counts toward this requirement.
This advice does not add an assignment or guarantee selection. Check the post code carefully: the advertisement contains several separate positions with different degrees, age limits and interview dates. Use the qualification and experience requirements for this particular code.
The official advertisement and live post page were checked during this run. CSIR–IMMT is identified by its official site as a CSIR institute under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
