CPCL PMIS Internships 2026
Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) has issued a fresh notification for nine-month internships under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS). CPCL is identified in the official notice as a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India. This is therefore a government-sector internship opportunity. It is training, not a permanent recruitment exercise, and completion does not create a right to employment at CPCL.

Do not substitute a different qualification based only on the title. Candidates claiming qualification equivalence must produce a valid equivalence certificate from the competent authority at verification.
Important ineligibility rules
Meeting the age and discipline qualification alone is not enough. The notification excludes the following groups, and applicants must also satisfy the applicable PMIS guidelines:
- Graduates or postgraduates from IITs, IIMs, National Law Universities, IISER, NIDs, IIITs and IISc.
- Those with qualifications such as CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, MBA or equivalent, MPhil and PhD.
- Those currently undergoing a skill, apprenticeship, internship or training programme under a central or state government scheme.
- Anyone who has completed apprenticeship training under NATS or NAPS at any point.
- Candidates where the income of any family member exceeds ₹12 lakh in the preceding financial year, as on the application date. The notice defines family as self, parents and spouse.
- Candidates with any family member who is a permanent or regular government employee.
Read these exclusions carefully before spending time on an application. Do not assume eligibility merely because your degree appears in the discipline table. For scheme-specific questions, refer to PMIS and the official notification rather than relying on a general internship summary.
Selection and document verification
Shortlisting will follow PMIS criteria, and shortlisted candidates will receive internship offers through the PMIS portal. Candidates must produce original documents relating to age, education, community status, disability where applicable and other relevant certificates. Engagement depends on successful verification, eligibility and medical fitness.
CPCL may request additional documents within a specified time. Inaccurate information, suppressed facts or missing supporting evidence can lead to rejection or cancellation. Applying does not itself confirm eligibility or confer a right to selection. Shortlisting, selection and joining communication will be through PMIS and/or registered email, not by post.
Expenses and employment expectations
No travel expenses are admissible for certificate verification or during the internship. CPCL will not provide boarding or lodging. Applicants should consider these conditions alongside the monthly stipend; the notice does not promise accommodation or a separate travel allowance.
The internship is intended solely for training and skill development. CPCL has no obligation to provide employment, absorption or regularisation during or after it. The organisation may change the number of opportunities or modify, suspend or cancel selection according to its stated conditions. Canvassing is a disqualification.
