Young Professional-I — NICRA, Vizhinjam Regional Centre

ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute’s Vizhinjam Regional Centre has invited applications for one Young Professional-I post under the NICRA project. The original notice, F.No.21-3/2025/NICRA-R/Vzm., is dated 16 October 2026. Although the official career index labels its issue date 27 October, the earlier date printed in the notice is retained here.

Tenure Maximum 1 year; extension conditional and project-linked
Deadline 18 November 2026, 5 p.m.; shortlisted interview 25 November, 10 a.m.
Original notice date 2026-10-16
Reference 21-3/2025/NICRA-R/Vzm. dated 16.10.2026

Essential qualification and desirable experience

The essential qualification is MFSc or MSc in fisheries-related branches. This is a postgraduate requirement. A general any-graduate or undergraduate eligibility claim would not reflect the notice. Applicants should check that their own degree falls within the stated fisheries-related branches before applying.

The desirable section lists one year of experience in marine ornamental-fish rearing, evidenced by publications, or CSIR/ICAR-NET. These are desirable criteria in the table. The distinction matters: the essential postgraduate qualification still applies, and the desirable wording should not be turned into a general waiver of the degree requirement.

Age condition and form dates

The eligibility table sets a minimum age of 21 and a maximum age of 45 years, with relaxation as per rules, as on the interview date. The prescribed application form separately asks for age as on 18 November 2026. Fill that field as issued while reading the eligibility table’s interview-date condition; do not silently replace either date. Applicants with an individual cutoff question should seek clarification from the institute.

Pay, tenure and place of work

The proposed emoluments are ₹30,000 per month as consolidated salary. The role is purely contractual for a maximum period of one year, extendable under ICAR guidelines and linked to the project. Extension is not guaranteed, and the engagement is temporary, non-regular, time-bound and co-terminus with the project. Selection does not give a right to a regular ICAR-CMFRI appointment.

The employer is the Vizhinjam Regional Centre of ICAR-CMFRI in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. WFH is not advertised. The role’s desirable experience relates to marine ornamental-fish rearing, so candidates should assess the actual research context instead of treating it as a generic remote internship. This is a project job, not an internship.

Application deadline and interview

Send biodata in the prescribed format and scans of original supporting documents to cmfrivizhinjam@gmail.com on or before 18 November 2026 at 5:00 p.m., as stated in the notice. Compile the biodata, certificates, declarations and relevant enclosures into a single PDF. Use the original notice linked below to obtain the issued Annexure I and Annexure II forms.

The interview is scheduled for 25 November 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Vizhinjam Regional Centre. If many applications are received, the institute will screen candidates using qualifications and experience. Shortlisted applicants will receive email communication. Only those who receive that communication may appear at the specified date and time; applying alone is not an invitation to attend.

Documents and declarations to prepare

  • Scanned original certificates from matriculation onward, together with the prescribed biodata and relevant supporting records.
  • A valid ID and all original certificates for the interview, as required by the notice.
  • Signed declarations in the prescribed annexures. Declare relevant near or distant relatives employed at ICAR/CMFRI in advance, with the details required by the notice.
  • An NOC from the current employer, if applicable.
  • The approved conversion table or formula if marks are stated as CGPA or OGPA.
  • For reservation or age-relaxation claims, the notice asks for scanned recent caste/claim certificates, at most six months old, issued by the Tahsildar, with originals produced when required. Follow the official wording for your case.

The eligibility table, application form and declarations serve different purposes. Keep dates and documents accurate, and do not omit a required declaration because there is no relative to report; use the appropriate alternative in the issued form. The notice warns that concealing facts or canvassing can cause disqualification or termination.

Other appointment and interview terms

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The number of vacancies can vary with project requirements. The competent authority may terminate engagement under the stated conditions, and the Director’s decision is final. Candidates should make travel plans only after receiving the institute’s communication and should keep checking the official CMFRI career page for changes.

Jobsii preparation note

As practical preparation advice, organise the fisheries postgraduate documents, experience or NET evidence where relevant, and a readable application PDF before the deadline. Review how you would explain any marine ornamental-fish work you claim, with the underlying evidence available. This is Jobsii guidance, not an extra interview round or an employer promise of selection.

Official notice and current updates

Read the official ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute notice and application instructions. This opportunity was verified on 29 October 2026. Check the original source for corrigenda or changes before applying. Jobsii provides the verified information; the recruiting institution makes eligibility, shortlisting and selection decisions.
