CCI Paid Internship: Planning an Application for November 2026
The Competition Commission of India operates a paid internship programme for eligible students interested in competition law and its applications. The official internship page and online application form were available when checked on 18 September 2026. The programme provides an honorarium of ₹15,000 per month, subject to its attendance, performance and completion requirements.
This is a standing internship programme, not a newly issued November 2026 recruitment advertisement. Under the currently linked guidelines, an application must reach CCI by the first day of the month preceding the intended internship month. Applying that rule, the deadline for a November 2026 internship is 1 October 2026. Candidates should check the live official portal for any later change or special notice before submitting.
Programme Overview
- Organisation: Competition Commission of India, or CCI.
- Opportunity: Student internship in competition law and related areas.
- Honorarium: ₹15,000 per month, subject to programme conditions.
- Location: CCI premises in New Delhi; not a work-from-home programme.
- Normal duration: One month, beginning on the first working day.
- Longer duration: Two or three calendar months may be requested with the appropriate institutional recommendation.
- Monthly intake rule: Normally up to 15 interns, with possible relaxation under the guidelines.
- Application method: Online through CCI’s official website.
- November application timing: By 1 October under the standing deadline rule.
The “up to 15” provision describes normal monthly capacity. It should not be interpreted as an announcement of 15 confirmed vacancies for November. Selection, allocation and any relaxation remain with CCI.
Who Can Apply
The programme is for Indian nationals who are currently students at recognised institutions or universities and have exposure to competition law. The guidelines expressly state that students who already have a placement in hand are not eligible. Applicants should check this condition carefully rather than assuming that every final-year student can participate.
Eligibility is course-specific and, for some programmes, year-specific. A general interest in law or economics does not replace the listed academic requirements. Applicants should compare their exact course and current year with the categories below and seek clarification from the official programme contact if their qualification does not clearly fit.
Eligible Courses and Study Years
For economics and management, the guidelines include students pursuing MA or MSc in Economics, fourth- and final-year students of a five-year integrated Economics degree, and MBA students. The integrated-course year restriction is explicit; it should not be broadened to all undergraduate Economics students.
For law, the programme includes second- and third-year students in a three-year law degree taken after graduation. It also includes fourth- and final-year students in a five-year integrated law programme, including students who have taken their third-year examination and are entering the fourth year. LLM students are included as well.
The remaining listed categories are MA or MSc in Regulatory Governance and students in the final group of Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy or Company Secretary programmes. Applicants in these professional courses should ensure that their current stage matches the stated final-group requirement.
The guidelines do not present a general “all graduates” route. Someone who has completed a degree but is no longer pursuing an eligible course should not assume eligibility merely because the subject is related. The institution’s recommendation is an important part of confirming the applicant’s current student status and suitability.
Duration, Work and Location
The normal internship lasts one month and begins on the first working day of that month. A request for two or three calendar months is possible with a recommendation from the applicant’s university, college or institution covering the proposed period. A longer request is not an automatic entitlement to an extended placement.
Selected interns receive an induction on the Competition Act and are assigned to divisions under the supervision of designated officers. At the end of the internship, each intern must present the work completed. The guidelines say that the certificate and stipend will not be released if that presentation is not made.
This is a full-time, on-premises programme. Interns must observe CCI’s working hours and may use its library and the minimum logistical support provided. The official page gives CCI’s New Delhi address at Kidwai Nagar East. Applicants should plan their commute or temporary stay themselves and confirm any joining arrangements directly with CCI.
Honorarium and Attendance Conditions
The monthly honorarium is ₹15,000. It is linked to the programme’s requirements and should not be presented as unconditional payment merely for selection. The guidelines address attendance, punctuality, discipline, integrity and satisfactory performance, along with completion of the final presentation.
Absence during working hours may lead to an extension without additional honorarium. Unsatisfactory performance or absence without the guide’s authorisation can result in discontinuation without honorarium. These conditions make it important to secure genuine full-time availability before applying, especially if examinations or compulsory classes overlap the intended month.
The programme is not a job and does not provide an assurance of employment with CCI. The value of the opportunity is structured exposure to the Commission’s work, not a promised recruitment shortcut or permanent government appointment.
Documents and Statement of Purpose
The application must contain a recommendation from the competent authority at the institution where the candidate is studying. Applications without that recommendation are not entertained under the guidelines. Start arranging this early, because institutional approval can take longer than filling out the online form.
A Statement of Purpose of about 200 words is required. It should briefly introduce the proposed topic and the objectives of the study. The prescribed application material explicitly warns that applications without an SOP will be rejected. A generic paragraph about wanting experience does not adequately address the requested topic-and-objectives structure.
The form also asks about educational qualifications, competition-law exposure, previous internship or work experience, areas of interest and relevant achievements. Supply accurate information and follow the live form’s upload requirements. Do not assume that a blank example in the guidelines means a field can be omitted from the online application.
Preparing a Focused SOP
The following is Jobsii’s editorial guidance, not a CCI-approved template. Choose a manageable question connected to competition law or the programme’s subject areas. Explain why it interests you, what you hope to examine and what a realistic outcome might be within the requested period.
Keep the scope proportionate. A one-month internship is unlikely to support an unlimited study of every aspect of a major industry. A narrower question with a clear objective is easier to understand. Make the link to your coursework or previous reading without claiming expertise that you have not developed.
Write in your own words and check the approximate length. If you use a tool to improve wording, verify every statement and ensure the proposal still represents your own interest. CCI’s confidentiality and intellectual-property conditions also mean that internship outputs cannot automatically be reused publicly without approval.
How to Apply Through the Official Portal
Start from the official CCI internship page linked below, read the current guidelines and open the online application form. Select the intended month or months carefully. For a November 2026 application, the first-of-the-preceding-month rule points to 1 October 2026, not 1 November.
Prepare the institutional recommendation and SOP before the deadline. Review academic details, contact information and all uploads, then complete the official submission process yourself. Save any acknowledgement the portal provides. Jobsii does not submit applications, collect documents or influence selection.
