A monthly stipend of Rs. 16,650/- (including government subsidy, if any) is payable. Canara Bank pays Rs. 10,500/- per month into the apprentice’s account, and the Government share of Rs. 6,150/- is credited directly through DBT mode.
Apprentices are not eligible for any other allowances or benefits. The stipend is paid monthly after adjusting any loss of pay. Working hours follow those applicable to the clerical cadre of the Bank, and overtime requires approval from the Apprenticeship Adviser.
Leave and Holidays
- One casual leave accrues after completion of one month of apprenticeship training.
- Total of 12 casual leaves per year; no other type of leave applies.
- Only four casual leaves can be availed at a time.
- Accumulated leave automatically gets exhausted on termination or completion of contract.
Contract and Termination
Selected candidates receive a digital apprenticeship contract through the NATS portal and must accept it within the stipulated timelines. No candidate is engaged until the contract is entered into and approved on the NATS portal. The contract terminates on expiry of the apprenticeship period. It may also be terminated if the apprentice fails to report on the commencement date, or for misbehaviour, disobedience, unsatisfactory performance, or any act prejudicial to the Bank’s interest, after 7 days’ notice.
After completion, NATS-joint certification will be awarded. Apprentices are prohibited from joining or forming any union body. Labour law provisions such as PF, ESI and Bonus are not applicable to this apprenticeship engagement.
Selection Process and Application Fee
The merit list will be prepared state-wise in descending order based on the percentage of marks obtained in the 12th Standard (HSC/10+2) or Diploma Examination. If two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate is ranked higher.
The minimum qualifying marks are not less than 60% for general candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates in the 12th Standard or Diploma Examination. Fractions are ignored, so 59.99% is treated as less than 60%, and 54.99% is treated as less than 55%, making the candidate ineligible.
Where CGPA or OGPA is awarded, the candidate must convert it into percentage and submit a certificate from the appropriate authority confirming the conversion formula and the percentage of marks scored. The percentage is calculated by dividing total marks obtained in all subjects across all semesters or years by aggregate maximum marks and multiplying by 100.
Final selection is subject to verification of eligibility, qualification in the local language test where applicable, and being declared medically fit. Document verification and the local language test will be conducted during the document verification process.
