NetZero centers on practical, focused problem-solving across four core environmental themes. Participants choose one problem statement and develop a concise case-study response.
- Improving sodium-ion batteries for grid-scale storage — focused on advances for large-scale energy storage.
- Increasing photovoltaic (PV) efficiency and thermal performance — focused on maximizing PV output and thermal behavior.
- Reducing the cost of green hydrogen production — focused on lowering production costs for green hydrogen.
- Measuring and reducing the environmental impact of digital/AI operations — focused on quantifying and mitigating digital and AI environmental footprints.
Each problem statement is intentionally specific so teams can prepare targeted, technically grounded submissions that address a core environmental challenge.
